FAQs
What is a “Simple Church”?
Great question! You may have heard the word “house church” or “microchurch”. Same idea, only we are in the process of planting a network of simple churches that will still have a monthly worship gathering together.
Where will this meet?
This will meet in our living room and possibly other friends living rooms as well. It will be a somewhat small gathering limited by the space we have in our living room.
Do you have to go every week?
Nope! There is no commitment, so come if you are able, and no worries if not (just let us know ahead of time so we know if we should prepare food for you). We will be going through some specific content to learn about Simple Church, so if you miss a week, you’ll just miss out on meaningful discussion, community, and worship.
Will we eat together?
Yes, we will share a meal together at each gathering. If you want to help with food, you are more then welcome. Just let us know!
What will kids do?
Kids are welcome to join us during the gathering if they would like! Otherwise, we have some fun ideas to keep the kids engaged in discussing the same scripture that we will be discussing (like going into the other room to create a short play around the verse we read).
Can I keep attending my church?
If you already attend a healthy church, then please don’t stop being an active part of that community. I attend a traditional church on Sunday mornings too! You can keep attending your church and be a part of this learning community.
What happens once this ends?
Our intent with this is to find a few families/individuals who would be interested in launching a Simple Church Network with us. We may invite you to prayerfully consider being a part of that as well (but no pressure).
What does Colonnade mean?
The rhythms of the early church in Jerusalem included gathering as the church in homes and gathering as the church regionally in the temple courts, known as Solomon’s Colonnade (also translated as portico).
col·on·nade (n): a long sequence of columns (simple churches) joined by their entablature (the regional network)—a system of structural support that disperses weight horizontally and compresses it through the columns.
